...Gray Envelopes...

Charcoal gray has been all the rage in the wedding industry for the last two years and it's still going strong. I can't say that I mind! I was thrilled to work with a bride that would be sending out these stunning charcoal gray envelopes.
As you will see on the envelope below, there are certain addresses where I find the address presentation to look cleaner when each line is not centered in the middle of the envelope, but rather center the address as a whole over the envelope and utilize indented spacing. I hope you'll agree that the end result is beautiful.
The bride-to-be requested black ink with a Pretty Perfect/Pretty Whimsy combination style. The result was a classy and elegant envelope ready to send to guests.
Working with an envelope of this color was so fun! I cannot wait to see what the rest of my brides have in store for me this season!

p.s. you can see more samples of my work here!

...Handwritten Wedding Program...

Earlier this year I was addressing outer envelopes for a local Cincinnati bride when she mentioned that she didn't so much care to have programs at her wedding ceremony, but her mother thought that they were a "must." She asked if I could whip something up that she could take to the printer to have copied. She stressed that she wanted to keep it simple, and I think we did. Here's a little close-up of the program which used both of Penned & Pretty's most requested calligraphy styles, Pretty Adorable & Pretty Perfect.

The bride, Allison, wanted the program to display their names & wedding date along with an order of service and the bridal party. Done & done.

Allison also allowed me to put the calligraphy on the escort cards and table signs/numbers for her reception. Those pictures should grace the blog shortly.

If you are interested in having me calligraphy your wedding program, just send me an e-mail at pennedandpretty{at}gmail{dot}com to inquire with specifics and obtain a rate!

...Wedding Programs with Calligraphy...

This past weekend a penned & pretty bride named Allison tied the knot right here in Ohio.

Earlier this year Allison sent me her outer envelopes to address in brown ink using the font Pretty Whimsy. Pictures to come, for now you will just have to trust me that they were pretty beautiful.

Fast forward to about a month before her wedding. She told her Mom that she wasn't really planning on having programs at the wedding ceremony. Her Mom wasn't really having any of that so they turned to me to whip up something simple to give the guests something to look at. Here's just a little sneak peek for you to look at before Allison's photographer sends in some professional pictures.

Allison wanted one side of the program to list the wedding party & the other side {not pictured} to list the order of the wedding ceremony. She was able to take the pages I wrote on to a local printer for printing. I cannot wait to see the professional pictures!

p.s. if you are interested in having me write out your wedding programs {or other wedding paper goods}, please contact me at pennedandpretty {at} gmail {dot} com. Prices for custom pieces will vary based on number of words, time to complete, etc.

..."Letterpress Makes Us Happy!"...

What first caught my eye on the the Spark Stationery blog was the cute little header image {see below} along with the tagline "letterpress makes us happy!" Too cute! The new sarah wedding suite that Spark Stationery recently created is something that is bound to make any bride-to-be happy to mail it out to all of her guests. The two kissing birds are quite adorable, but I also love the color scheme and the layers of texture throughout the suite.
One of my favorite items in the suite is the wedding program with the words "Welcome to the ceremony uniting two lovebirds..." It just doesn't get more adorable than that!
This coaster also matches the suite and can be used as a wedding favor or a simple added detail during the cocktail hour!
You can see the rest of the items from the new suites on the Spark Stationery blog right here!

...Off Beat and Picture Perfect...

A darling program that is a little off beat and picture perfect at the same time....
...accompanied by a killer invitation suite that one would love to receive....
...makes me love this wedding. To see more photos, check out the blog of jasmine star for the wedding of Alicia and Steven posted on 5.29.2009.

...Ellie...

If you haven't ventured over to the mint design blog in a while, you are missing out on lovely eye candy. Ellie, the graphic designer behind mint has been posting images of the paper goods from her wedding!

We just adore the programs she crafted for her wedding ceremony.
We just don't even know where to begin! From the different patterns adorning each program to the lovely ribbon holding each of them together to the nontraditional fonts that were used....we love it all.
Forget adding a line in the program with directions to the reception venue. Ellie was clever enough to allow the directions card to stand alone and shine. With the words "Take me to the party," who could resist!?
I guess we weren't so surprised by the beauty of the programs and direction card since we saw her lovely invitations first. Here's just a little glimpse at their beauty.
Make sure to view Ellie's save the dates, guestbook, rehearsal dinner invitations and wedding recap! If you love her "style" and talent then you'll be happy to know that Ellie is now offering to design wedding paper goods for other brides based off of her wedding stationery designs!

...Bikes by Indigo...

Have a little looksie at these adorable wedding ceremony programs that we are loving:
The programs were crafted from green cardstock, kraft paper and brown twine. The best part?! It looks easy enough for anyone to create and its quite darling! Talk about killing two birds with one stone!
We are loving the image on the cover of a boy bike and a girl bike with a little heart hovering nearby.

...Little Owl...

Never before here at Penned & Pretty have we really featured all of the paper goods from one wedding. However, when we came across the posting of Ashley & Todd's wedding {by Jose Villa} on the ever-inspiring blog of Once Wed, we just knew we just had to share every last drop of paper goodness with you.
Let's start with a part of the invitation suite:

Everything was letterpressed {oh what a luxury!} but the invitations themselves were kept casual and asked the guest to "ESVP: Reply by e-mail". We love that the invitation {on the right} was not your standard 5x7 card stock! The invitation to the rehearsal dinner {bottom left} isn't like anything we've ever seen before!
The front of the programs feature the cutest little owl {we never thought we would hear ourselves say that!} that you will see carried throughout the day.

Don't you know that the couple's save the date {above} was well thought out and was a lovely peak as to the fun times {and gorgeous paper goods} to come!

We thought that we had seen our fair share of escort card displays before, but this is one for the books! An unfolding chalkboard easel listed the names of the guests next to a piece of card stock displaying a table number. Take a look at the lovely table decor. Do you see the little green owl sitting on the table next to the bucket holding the silverware? The "Southern Soul Food Feast" menu also acted like a place card with the adorable turquoise owl stating the name of the guest who was lucky enough to be a guest at this reception.

Wasn't everything about the paper goods at this wedding just lovely!? Thanks goes out to Once Wed for digging thru Jose Villa's archives to find this little gem. Just so you know, the invitation suite and lovely paper goods were designed by smoke proof press.

...Unfolding Goodness...

Heather over at we met in a bar recently posted a mock-up of her programs. We are smitten, even though it is just a mock-up.
If you can get past the lovely ribbon to open up the program, you won't believe your eyes when it unfolds before you. The four paneled program features "The {Wedding} Party," "The Ceremony," "Special Thanks" and "Reception" details.

And to think that this is just the mock-up! Stay tuned for the real programs, we'll be sure to feature them! Thanks for the unfolding goodness, Heather!

...Sihouette Programs...

I came across these programs on once wed from the wedding of KC & Sara. Have you ever seen a more adorable program!? The bride designed & letter pressed the booklets with a purple tone-on-tone faux bois cover. The bride & groom's name & silhouettes in the knot of the wood on the front cover. My favorite detail? The simple white string that binds the program together. The inside cover of the program replicated the wedding invitation. It is perfect in every way.
And as if the silhouettes in the knot of the wood weren't enough, feast your eyes on the beautiful bicycle {and pretty calligraphy}!
